CVT Transmissions

CVT Transmissions, such as in many Nissan, Honda, and Subaru Vehicles, are very efficient! If you wanted peak MPG and power output, a CVT transmission will be the ideal choice. These transmission not only shift gears, but also have a constant velocity design. These constant velocity transmissions are constantly changing gear ratio to ensure that your are at the right RPM at all times.

Though these transmissions are efficient, they are not as strong as other options. Since the CVT belt is always moving and flexing, they tend to take on wear and tear at a much faster rate. You must change your transmission fluid every 30k miles to receive the most life out of this type of transmission. Many manufacturers have a special fluid for their CVT transmissions, which can be expensive. Due to the sensitivity of these transmission, we will only ever put dealer fluid in them.

Ever heard of a CVT Shudder or Judder? This is usually the last thing you will notice before the CVT transmission will leave you stranded on the side of the road. Nissan cars are some of the most known vehicles to have a low life span of the transmission. Even in newer models such as 2020, they are known to need a replacement transmission as early as 50k miles.
